FIFA 17’s New Cover Star Revealed

After four years at the top, Lionel Messi is no longer the cover star of FIFA – publisher EA announced today that the German player Marco Reus has won the vote to adorn the box of FIFA 17.

Reus plays for the German national team in addition to Borussia Dortmund, bagging the majority of 3.1 million votes cast in the competition. Look at him on the box there – he looks thrilled.

Reus beat out Manchester United’s Anthony Martial, Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez, and Chelsea’s Eden Hazard to grab the coveted cover spot.

The FIFA 17 website says:

Strong with either foot, lethal from a dead ball, and with a knack for scoring important goals, the German international has featured in the Bundesliga Team of the Year four times and is the heart and soul of his hometown club.

FIFA 17 launches on September 27 for PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, bringing with it the usual host of changes, tweaks, new features, and improvements.

Perhaps the most notable new inclusion will be the intriguing story mode, called The Journey.

In it, you play as the character Alex Hunter as he tries his best to make it big in the English Premier League (by playing lots of football, naturally).
