Final Fantasy VII Now Available On Android, With Some Cool Changes

By :

Final Fantasy VII – one of the finest RPGs of all time – is available now for Android phones and tablets.

The 1997 PlayStation epic requires over 4GB of space to download, which isn’t all that surprising. Final Fantasy VII is still a massive game, even by modern standards.

While the idea of Final Fantasy VII on the go is an enticing prospect, there’s currently a fairly significant bug.

Developer Square Enix explained:

Depending on the terrain and timing of the action, the buggy, submarines, airships, and other modes of transportation may cease to move when the player embarks or disembarks. This bug occurs most often when players embark or disembark while extremely close to the terrain, as well as during time-sensitive activities for events.

It wasn’t specified whether or not Square are working on a permanent solution – they currently recommend saving frequently and/or using multiple save files.

Still, if you can look past that fairly irritating bug (which I’m hoping will be fixed soon) there are some new additions to the title that make things pretty interesting.

The game features a virtual controller that was mercifully designed so that your filthy hands won’t obscure the screen. You can also choose between virtual analogue or d-pad options, so we’re really spoiled for choice.

There’s also the ability to disable random encounters (if you’re chicken – or Chocobo), and a rather fun ‘max stats’ command that basically turns your characters into Gods.

Both options are a perfect combo if you fancy reliving Final Fantasy VII’s story without any of the toil.

You’ll need Android 4.3 or up to run Final Fantasy VII, and the game costs £12.99.
