The fourth (and final) instalment of the Five Nights at Freddy’s series has released two weeks earlier than expected.

Popping up on Steam, the horror game was originally billed to come out on August 8th but developer Scott Cawthon thought ‘fuck it, it’s ready’ and dropped it a full fortnight in advance.

Fans of the series will know what to expect here. Jump scares, quick reactions and the creepy anthropamorphic antics of Freddy and his pals. This time though, instead of playing as a security guard in the doomed Chuck E. Cheese style restaurant, you will play as a child whose house has been infiltrated by the puppets. Creepy.

Cawthon described the gameplay style on the the website:

You have only a flashlight to protect yourself. It will scare away things that may be creeping at the far end of the hallways, but be careful, and listen. If something has crept too close, then shining lights in its eyes will be your end,

Currently on sale on Steam for £5.59, Five Nights At Freddy’s will reportedly be the last in the series, but Warner Bros have a movie in development. So if you’re a fan, expect to see more of Freddy in the near future.
