Gears Of War 4 Will Be “Graphical Showcase” For Xbox One

Gears of War 4 producer Rod Fergusson has been talking up the new game, claiming that it’ll be a “graphical showcase” for Xbox One in the same way that the original Gears was for the Xbox 360.

Speaking to Official Xbox Magazine US, Fergusson discussed the team’s target to give fans the essence of previous Gears of War titles. Lots and lots of blood and gore in glorious detail, then? Works for me.

Fergusson noted how his team’s work on Gears of War: Ultimate Edition has influenced the upcoming sequel. Naturally, framerate was addressed.

Fergusson said:

Delivering [with Ultimate Edition] the first 60fps multiplayer experience in franchise history really taught us a lot about what it means to have a 60fps culture on the team and we’re leveraging that experience for Gears of War 4.

Incidentally, Fergusson actually worked on the original Gears of War. So, when he compares to the original in terms of graphical impact it seems a lot less like an empty promise.

Gears of War 4 is due out sometime in Autumn. A beta will be held prior to launch, with those who brought themselves early copies of Gears of War Ultimate Edition guaranteed access to it.
