Gears Of War 5 Is “Looking Great”, Says Xbox Boss

Gears of War 5, which is actually called Gears 5 for reasons I won’t pretend to like or understand seems to be coming together splendidly ahead of its 2019 release.

That’s according to Xbox boss Phil Spencer at least. He recently headed out to Vancouver to visit Gears 5 developer The Coalition, and see how the game was shaping up, and he seems pretty impressed with what he saw.

Then again, if anyone is gonna say one of the next big Xbox One exclusives is shaping up nicely, it’s gonna be the man in charge of Xbox, so make of his comments what you will.

Spencer didn’t reveal too much of his trip, but did take to Twitter to share a sneaky snap of the studio and reveal that “Gears 5 is looking great.”

Beyond that, we don’t really know much about the game right now, other than it follows on from the cliffhanger ending of Gears of War 4 and stars that game’s Kait Diaz as the first playable female lead in the franchise.

While the game still doesn’t have a solid release date, The Coalition boss Rod Fergusson recently teased on Twitter that the team is currently recording voice lines.

In other Gears of War news, Guardians of The Galaxy star Dave Bautista has previously said he’s very much up for playing grizzled protagonist Marcus Fenix in the currently in development movie at Universal.
