Running around and hoovering up ghosts is an awesome premise for a videogame (just look at Luigi’s Mansion). Great times ahead then, as a new Ghostbusters game from Activision is apparently set to launch alongside Paul Feig’s all female reboot later this year.
Development on merchandise for the new movie began early on in the film-making process, and this allegedly included plans for a “fully fledged” videogame for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
There hasn’t been any official word, so we have no idea about what the new Ghostbusters game might include. According to a report on Retail Merchandiser, it won’t have anything to do with the recent LEGO: Dimensions, which currently has its own levels based on the original film. Hopefully it’ll be in the same vein as 2009’s Ghostbusters game, which was actually pretty decent.
Since it’s being released alongside the new movie starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones, we would assume the game will focus on those guys, and not the 1984 cast of Bill Murray et al.
If indeed there is a new Ghostbusters videogame, it should be out sometime around July 15 when the movie lands.
