Now, the Metal Gear Solid creator has shared some details on the mystery title. Apparently, it’ll be an action game that appeals to fans of The Division and Uncharted.

Speaking in an interview with Japanese gaming publication Famitsu (and translated by Gematsu), Kojima said the project might not blow people away when it’s announced, but that we’ll understand it better when we play it. Keep our expectations low – nice move, chief.

He explained:

While not to say that it’s open-world, users who enjoy today’s AAA games (The Division and Uncharted, etc.) will be able to easily enjoy it. When it is announced, you might think ‘that’s not that outstanding,’ but you’ll understand when you see it and play it. The genre is action.

The mystery project is being created in partnership with Sony, under the newly founded Kojima Productions. It’ll be released on PlayStation 4 and PC.

It’s also previously been mentioned that the new game will be the first in a franchise, which kind of suggests that Sony and Kojima have some pretty high hopes for it.

I think a little part of me was still convinced it was gonna be Silent Hills. Time to move on, I guess.
