Hitman Beta Requires An Internet Connection, But Full Game Won’t

The internet’s become a pretty integral part of day-to-day life – it probably won’t be long before you need a steady WiFi connection to take a poo.  Fortunately, Square Enix have confirmed that you won’t need a constant internet connection to enjoy the new Hitman game – though you will need it for the impending beta.

After it was mentioned a constant internet connection was required to play the Hitman beta (Feb 12 for PS4 and Feb 19 for PC), many fans started to worry that this would mean the final game would require the same thing. Fortunately, Square Enix stepped in pretty sharpish to clear things up.

A Square Enix rep said:

Yes you can play the full game offline after you have downloaded an episode…but there are live elements which you will need to access online.

Considering you’ll need regular access to a working connection to download new episodes and other content at frequent intervals, this isn’t that much better than needing to be constantly connected, surely? Unless you have really shit WiFi at home, in which case feel free to bask in this news.

Hitman (the first episode, anyway) is coming to PS4, PC, and Xbox One on March 11.
