After a hugely successful reveal last week, EA has confirmed that a beta for WWI shooter Battlefield 1 is on its way later this year.
According to the press release that accompanied the Battefield 1 announcement, by registering as a Battlefield Insider (which is free), you’ll be granted early access to the beta.
You can sign up as an Insider on the official Battlefield website. The only perks mentioned on the site are in-game rewards, exclusive content, and sneak peeks.
The press release mentions all of this but also specifies that Insiders get “early access to the Battlefield 1 public beta” which to be fair, I would class as either exclusive content or a sneak peak.
Beyond this, it’s not clear what the beta will include or when exactly it’ll be coming. The game is due to launch October 21 this year, so I’d imagine it’ll be a month or two before that.
Battlefield 1 is the first in the series to take us back to what developer DICE has described as the dawn of “all out war”.
Set during the First World War, you can expect horseback cavalry charges, mustard gas, biplanes, zeppelins, and the ability to twat people round the face with a shovel. Check out the trailer below.
Between this and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, it seems like we’ve got two very different shooters to look forward to this year – and that’s probably the most positive thing anyone has said about COD in relation to Battlefield over the past few days.
