In The Division 2, Mexico Built A Wall To Keep Out US Refugees

In this week’s edition of The Division 2 Is Not A Political Game, we examine a fake in-game press release that was recently tweeted out by Ubisoft that plays on President Trump’s ongoing quest to build a border wall between the US and Mexico.

For those that aren’t aware, Trump has been promising to erect a wall between the US and Mexico for years now in an effort to fight immigration. It was, in fact, one of his big campaign promises.

Trump hasn’t had any success in this arena though. Presumably because it’s the kind of dumb idea Homer Simpson might have come up with an un-made episode of The Simpsons where he accidentally finds himself elected POTUS.

At any rate, the issue of “The Wall” has been an ongoing political debate/meme, and one that Ubisoft decided to poke fun at in a bit of marketing for The Division 2.

In this faux press release, Mexico responds to the “deteriorating situation in the US”, declaring a state of emergency in light of the apocalyptic situation in the States, and approving funding for a border wall to keep US refugees out.

The fictional President of Mexico says:

We have already seen a caravan of US citizens from the east coast arrive at our border hoping to enter our country for protection, services, and to escape the Dark Zones of anarchy and chaos.

The press release also mentions armed police being sent to guard the border, and a zero tolerance mandate for anyone caught attempting to flee the US. Rough stuff, but definitely not political guys. You can see the full thing for yourself below.

The Division 2, which is about a civil war breaking out in Washington DC but definitely isn’t a political game, releases on March 15 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
