The PlayStation 4 exclusive Bloodborne is an absolute masterpiece, and fans have been crying out for a sequel to the punishing Lovecraftian horror since the original captivated audiences back in 2015.

FromSoftware are currently busy working on Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, of course, but those keen on returning to the hunter’s dream and diving deeper into the murky world of Bloodborne may want to read on with cautious optimism.

An Easter egg has been found in FromSoft’s new VR game Déraciné which has sparked a ton of speculation among die-hard fans of Bloodborne, who believe it’s a strong hint that a sequel is coming.

Fans have discovered that a doll can be found in the new VR release, one which makes a gesture many fans will know as “Make Contact” – the very same gesture used by The Doll, an important character in Bloodborne.

While that alone isn’t much to go on, the doll’s description reads:

A doll of the stone girl Fiona who appears in the unfinished tale. When a person has a bad dream, Fiona appears and helps them flee.

It’s the reference to an “unfinished tale” that has fans speculating that Hidetaka Miyazaki – who directed both of these games, as well as Dark Souls – fully intends to return to Bloodborne soon.

Meanwhile, ResetEra users have spotted a few other references to Bloodborne hiding in Déraciné, including another doll that specifically mentions bad dreams, and a book that uses the Bloodborne logo’s font.

It’s possible that all of these references amount to nothing more than fun little Easter eggs for fans, of course. But Miyazaki is probably aware that fans of games like Bloodborne and Dark Souls are exactly the kind of fans who will obsessively search for clues and references to future games.

For now though, we can look forward to the promising (and very difficult) Sekrio: Shadows Die Twice, which comes to PS4, Xbox One, and PC on March 22, 2019.
