Another fighter has joined the ranks of Mortal Kombat 11, and it’s none other than the brutally stylish Johnny Cage. The movie star/martial artist has been a mainstay of the franchise from day one, so it’s great (if unsurprising) to see him back.
Cage was revealed in a new gameplay trailer from IGN, which you can check out below. From the looks of it, it seems that Cage has lost none of his signature style, and is rocking an absolutely fantastic fatality.
Based on what we’ve seen so far from menus, gameplay, and story footage, Cage is the 19th character to be confirmed for NetherRealm’s upcoming brawler, joining classics like Sub Zero, Scorpion, and Jade.
There are also a couple of newcomers to the fray, including the formidable looking Geras. He’s a powerful yet agile fighter who can manipulate the sands of time, throw up obstacles, and generally cause a world of pain. He looks like an interesting addition.
NetheRealm are also adding a few cool new twists to the gameplay, introducing an Injustice 2 style gear system, meaning you can equip your character with various bits and bobs, tailoring them to suit your playstyle.
There’s a story mode too, of course. It’s pretty much as ridiculously convoluted as you’d expect the story mode from the 11th game in a fighting franchise to be, but it should please the hardcore fans.
Mortal Kombat 11 is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on April 23, 2019, with a Nintendo Switch version to follow a little later. There’s also a beta scheduled for March 28, so expect more details on how to access that soon.
