Knights of the Old Republic 2 is one of the best Star Wars games ever made, right up there with Battlefront 2 and the LEGO Star Wars games, if you ask me.
While the idea of ever seeing a third game in the series may seem like a distant hope – especially given EA are now in charge of all future Star Wars titles – KOTR 2 dev Obsidian Entertainment recently revealed that it’s certainly not out of the question.
During a recent Reddit ‘Ask Me Anything’ (AMA) session, the studio expressed a keen desire to return to a galaxy far, far away for a new RPG adventure.
Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart joked that if the fans could pitch Knights of the Old Republic 3 to EA, that we’d find ourselves ‘friends for life’ with the studio.
Social media manager Mikey Dowling added:
The title is out of our hands as EA has the license for the games. We’d love to return to the galaxy far, far away if we had the chance.
A version of Knights of the Old Republic 3 was actually being developed by LucasArts around the time of the second game’s release, but it was scrapped before its time thanks to wide-ranging cuts.
Obsidian also expressed an interest in returning to the Fallout series, following their work New Vegas – and while that’s much more likely, I’d rather see them work with EA and get back to Star Wars.
