Konami Speaks Out Against Claims It Will Stop Making Console Games

Last week, news began to circulate that Japanese developers Konami would no longer be pursuing console games, as they began to focus on a mobile market – claims which the company has today refuted.

It was the news pretty much everybody expected to hear: “Konami have stopped production on all console games.” With Kojima gone, its 2015 roster complete, and allegations of heinous disregard for staff’s welfare, the news was largely met with nods of agreement and mild shrugging the world over.

With the shrugging getting gradually louder, Konami have now broken their silence, as a company representative has come out saying it’s all a pile of steamy horse turd.

Konami said:

I can promise you that we’re definitely not leaving Metal Gear behind or anything like that. I know some blogs were claiming that online this morning, but I’m not really sure where they’d be getting that from. We’re still definitely working on console games and franchises such as Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Castlevania, PES and all the rest.

The news game from a French gaming site called Gameblog by what was then widely reported to be pretty true. While the representative failed to shed light on how Konami plans to carry on franchises like Metal Gear and Silent Hill (probably through a series of HD remasters and tedious, shitty card games) they company has fallen into disrepute with fans, which it will struggle to overcome.

If Konami are to believed, they are currently hiring staff for a new Metal Gear project without its creator and director Hideo Kojima.
