I’ll level with you, I think Lady Gaga is brilliant. She’s a genuine talent and a gift to the world, but never in my (admittedly short) career did I think I’d get to write an article about her, relegated as I am to the world of video games.
But life comes at you fast sometimes, and here I stand (or sit), ready to tell the world that the Bad Romance singer looks like she’s actually going to be appearing in CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077.
The singer/actor was recently spotted at the CD Projekt studios, and various sources have apparently confirmed that she was there recording mocap for the upcoming Sci-Fi RPG.
According to Awkward_Bowler on Reddit, who translated the original French article, the piece states that sources “close to the studio” claimed she’ll be in the game in “some capacity”, but that everything else around Gaga’s involvement with the game is uncertain.
It’s also worth noting that last year, the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account replied to one of Lady Gaga’s stranger tweets from 2012 with a response that either hides a cryptic meaning or was just the social media assistant for the game having a laugh.
Given Gaga has more than proven her acting chops over the years – she was nominated for an Oscar for a Star is Born just recently – I’d be surprised if her part in the game was little more than a novelty cameo.
Hopefully she’s the star of a particular lengthy side quest that sees players working with her and Beyonce in a Cyberpunk style reenactment of the Telephone music video. I’m aware that’s a long shot, but I can dream.
