BioWare have announced that the hotly anticipated Mass Effect: Andromeda has been pushed back a few months to “early 2017”.
EA alluded to this during a presentation back in March, when CFO Blake Jorgensen told us not to expect the newest Mass Effect till the first quarter of 2017, but BioWare’s confirmation makes it official.
Aaryn Flynn, general manager of BioWare wrote in a post on the Mass Effect website:
As we’ve been playing the game at the studio recently, it’s showing us that we’re taking the game in the right direction. But we also know we need the right amount of time to make sure we deliver everything the game can be and should be — that’s our commitment from all of us to all of you. Because of that, Mass Effect: Andromeda will now ship in early 2017
When BioWare officially unveiled Mass Effect:Andromeda, the studio said it planned to release the game in holiday 2016. Obviously, today’s news is bound to disappoint a few fans.
It’s not all doom and gloom though, as BioWare are set to provide an update on the game during EA Play, the publisher’s pre-E3 2016 press briefing.
Will we finally get to feast our eyes on some actual gameplay footage in June then? It’s certainly long past time, as the game largely remains shrouded in secrecy. Aside from a few leaks here and there, we honestly don’t know what to expect.
Mass Effect: Andromeda is coming to PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One and is being developed in EA’s Frostbite engine.
