Deep SilverHooo boy, here we go. Epic Games and Deep Silver have announced a partnership that will see Metro Exodus released exclusively through the Epic Store. Naturally, Valve ain’t too impressed.
The game is to be released on February 15, and it’s understood that anybody who has already pre-ordered the game through Steam, will still be able to redeem their purchase through the store.

We are partnering with Deep Silver to launch Metro Exodus, underpinned by Epic’s marketing support and commitment to offering an 88 per cent revenue split, enabling game creators to further reinvest in building great games and improving the economics of game stores for everybody.

Epic’s generous revenue terms are a game changer that will allow publishers to invest more into content creation, or pass on savings to the players.
By teaming up with Epic we will be able to invest more into the future of Metro and our ongoing partnership with series developer 4A Games, to the benefit of our Metro fans.
In a statement released on the game’s Steam page, Valve said that the decision is “unfair to Steam customers” and that they were given “limited time to let everyone know.”

Earlier this month, Ubisoft announced that The Division 2 would also be sold exclusively through the Epic Store on PC too.
Whether more developers will opt for this going forward remains to be seen, but it’s certainly food for thought for Gabe Newell and co.
