If you ever played the Nintendo 64, then you probably played a Rare game. Banjo Kazooie, Goldeneye and Conker’s Bad Fur Day are all titles from the legendary developer. According to Microsoft though, the new IP Sea of Thieves is going to trump them all.
The game was officially unveiled at this years E3, but went a little bit unnoticed due to the barrage of massive games on show. Not happy to go down without a fight, Microsoft’s Corporate VP Kudo Tsunoda has come out swinging, saying that Sea of Thieves is the best game Rare have ever made.
Speaking to OXM, he said:
I think what you’re gonna see in Sea of Thieves as we go forward and start talking more about the game is how Rare is enabling that kind of player-generated, emotional and memory-driven stories that can happen within Sea of Thieves… That’s what we’re going to keep having them doing in the future and Sea of Thieves is gonna be the best game that Rare has ever made.
Details of what Sea of Thieves will actually involve are pretty thin on the ground, but we do know it will be an expansive, pirate-themed multiplayer game with elements of first person combat. Players will be able to group together to explore the ocean waves and hunt down treasure aboard their own ships. There has been no release date set for the game but it will be coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 exclusively.
