There’s A Mirror’s Edge TV Series In The Works

Deadline has reported that a television series based on Mirror’s Edge is in the works.

Endemol, the production company behind such gems as Big Brother and Masterchef, will adapt EA’s free running franchise into a “female centered action series”.

Personally I’m hoping they embrace the first person aspect – like Peep Show, only with more parkour and less crippling social ineptitude.

The proposed show (much like the games) will follow the adventures of Faith, a messenger who navigates the rooftops of a dystopian future city in her quest to combat corporate corruption.

To be fair, that’s a pretty sick pitch all on its own. Faith also has to rescue her sister, who’s been framed for murder. You can’t make this stuff up (apart from when you can, because they have).

We clearly see Mirror’s Edge as a franchise for the global TV audience. It has a strong female protagonist, a wildly rabid fan base and a worldwide brand that Electronic Arts and EA DICE have done an amazing job establishing.

Mirror’s Edge as a franchise only has two games, one of which isn’t even out yet. The first was released back in 2007, while a reboot/prequel called Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is scheduled for a June release.

With only two games to its name, it’s a real testament to the world of Mirror’s Edge that a TV series is a possibility.

Considering how stylish and ambitious the games themselves are, there’s a real chance that a Mirror’s Edge TV show could break new ground for videogame to film/TV adaptations if done right.
