Monster Hunter Movie Adds Ron Perlman To Cast

The Monster Hunter movie you probably forgot was happening just added the iconic Ron Perlman – and the slightly less iconic (but still great) T.I Harris – to its cast.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed in an exclusive reveal that the former Hellboy actor will play a man named Admiral, the leader of The Hunter’s Crew – a band of warriors who hunt monsters, funnily enough.

While Perlman is probably best known for his starring role in Hellboy, gamers will doubtless recognise him as the chilling voice who narrates the Fallout games, while others still will know him as The Lich King from Adventure Time. Seriously, the dude has a voice like Stephen Fry’s evil American uncle.

T.I Harris, meanwhile, is playing a character called Link. Not the chap in the green tunic with the pointy ears though, that’s a different franchise altogether. This Link will apparently be a sniper, and that’s all we know about that for now.

You probably last saw Harris as one of Paul Rudd’s hapless cohorts in Ant Man & The Wasp. I don’t know your life though, maybe you saw him somewhere else. Whatever.

Anyway, both actors will be joining the excellent Mila Jovovich, who you may remember from the Resident Evil movies, which have varied in quality over the years from kind of good to absolutely awful.

It’s unclear what exactly the story of this Monster Hunter movie will be, given that the games have never really been heavy on plot. Instead, they tend to focus on just letting the player hunt monsters, and I’m not sure I want to watch Ron Perlman do that for two hours. I might be into it though.

In the director’s chair we have Jovovich’s husband Paul W.S. Anderson, who also directed the Resident Evil films. He certainly has experience in bringing Capcom games to the big screen then – let’s just hope they have the budget and flair to bring the fantasy world of Monster Hunter to life in the way it deserves.
