The acclaimed director James Wan is reported to be on board for a new Mortal Kombat movie.

The Saw director has been busy lately, making Furious 7, which grossed $1.5 BILLION worldwide, and now working on a second Conjuring movie, as well as his upcoming Aquaman project.

However, Tracking Board have reported that he is involved in the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie.

According to a report:

It centers around a seemingly harmless guy who realizes his potential when he finds himself caught in the middle of a cross-dimensional battle between the warriors of Earth and the monsters of Outworld. Now, in order to stop the world from total destruction, he must win the martial arts tournament known as ‘Mortal Kombat’.

Poor lad. I hope he can fight.

The Mortal Kombat franchise took a huge boost recently, with it’s last game being really fucking good. Movie-wise, it’s never crossed over very well, though. The 1997 Mortal Kombat: Annihilation film was… A bit sit.

No doubt that he will have a proper budget for this, and will turn it into something pretty spectacular.

I hope so anyway.
