The Witcher is being made into a Netflix series and it sounds absolutely incredible.
After the huge success of The Witcher games for PC, Playstation4 and Xbox, Netflix has decided it will make it into a TV series.
The Witcher Saga was originally a series of eight novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, which then inspired the games by CD Projekt Red RPG games.
The writer behind the novels does not profit from the games, but is expected to be a creative consultant for the new TV production, IGN reports.
He said:
I’m thrilled that Netflix will be doing an adaptation of my stories.
Staying true to the source material and the themes that I have spent over thirty years writing.
It is thought Tomas Baginski – who directed the intro for The Witcher game trilogy and the Cyberpunk 2077 teaser trailer – will also direct an episode per season.

The fact ‘per season,’ has been reported on hints that more than one season will be created, so they could be in line with the games, or potentially the books, depending on which direction the makers want to take it in.
Sean Daniel and Jason Brown, executive producers said:
The Witcher stories follow an unconventional family that comes together to fight for truth in a dangerous world.
The characters are original, funny and constantly surprising and we can’t wait to bring them to life at Netflix, the perfect home for innovative storytelling.

So far, it is way too early to speculate on which storylines the Netflix series will focus on, but if they’re anything like the games, then we’re in for a treat.
Alongside the team, a Polish production and visual effects company – Platige Image – will co-produce to make sure the overall look of the series is up to scratch.
Baginski and Jarek Sawko – also executive producers – said:
There is a moral and intellectual depth in these books which goes beyond genre. It is a story about today and today’s challenges, hidden under a fantasy cover.
It is a story about us, about the monster and the hero inside all of our hearts.
They are keen to reassure fans of the novels and indeed the games, the subtext and moral message entwined in the books will not be lost once they have been translated into the series.
At present, there is no further information regarding the release date or what actors might feature in the TV show.
Sounds exciting, watch this space…
