Netflix is getting in on the Halloween fun by sharing our very first look at Henry Cavill in all his glory as Geralt of Rivia for the live action Witcher series.
The Man of Steel star absolutely looks the part, in my humble opinion. I’m sure some people are going to be complaining about the lack of beard, but Geralt has been known to go for the clean shaven look from time to time.
Check it out below:
Recently, it was announced that Cavill would be joined by Freya Allan (Into The Badlands) and Anya Chalotra (Wanderlust), who will take on the roles of Ciri and Yennefer respectively.
If you’re not that familiar with The Witcher, Ciri is something of an adopted daughter to Geralt, while Yennefer is a master sorceress and all around badass. She’s also Geralt’s main love interest, I guess – but a badass first and foremost.
Geralt meanwhile, is a master Witcher – a mutated human who hunts monsters for coin. Usually voiced in the games by the excellent Doug Cockle, Cavill was announced to be stepping into the role for the Netflix show a few months back.
Cavill is a self confessed fan of the series, and according to showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, he was always one of their first choices to take on the role.
The Witcher – which will take more inspiration from the novels than the game series – is currently in production, and looks set to air on Netflix sometime in 2019.

After graduating from the University of Portsmouth in 2015 with a BA in Journalism & Media Studies (thanks for asking), he went on to do some freelance words for various places, including Kotaku, Den of Geek, and TheSixthAxis, before landing a full time gig at UNILAD in 2016.
