The next game in the rebooted Tomb Raider franchise will be called Shadow of the Tomb Raider, according to one particularly embarrassing blunder.
The leak – if indeed it does turn out to be true – actually came to light because someone allegedly involved with the game had a document open on his laptop, on the subway, revealing the title to one particularly nosy Redditor by the name of Tripleh280.
The document in question seems to be some kind of Powerpoint for the game. There’s tons more info besides the title hidden in there, but the image is too blurry to make out exactly what it might be.
Kotaku then heard from a source that Shadow of the Tomb Raider will indeed be the name of the next game, along with the surprising revelation that Thief and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided developer Eidos Montreal is working on the title.
For those that don’t know, the last few Tomb Raider games have been made by developer Crystal Dynamics who (fun fact alert) were also the team behind the Gex games on PlayStation.
That this rebooted version of the franchise would get a third game is hardly surprising, especially since the first two were such a hit with fans and critics alike.
Still, I would hope Crystal Dynamics are on board in some capacity – if only to help round out what should be a fine trilogy of videogames.
