New Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Documentary Looks Awesome

I think it’s fair to say that we all owned and loved at least one Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game during our formative years.

Not only did it change the face of gaming, but the franchise went a long way to making video games genuinely fucking cool, which was awesome.

Great news for all us nostalgia guzzlers then, as there’s a brand new documentary dedicated to telling the story behind the Pro Skater games on the way.

It’s called Pretending I’m a Superman (after the excellent Goldfinger track), and you can watch the first trailer below:

The project – which is described as the first ever feature length documentary about the Pro Skater series – is currently seeking funding on IndieGoGo, where 73 backers have raised $5,079, which is 7 percent of the funding goal (though there’s still a month left).

The documentary is being produced by Ralph D’Amato, who was actually a producer on the Pro Skater series at Neversoft for many years, in case you needed assurance that this is more than a fan project.

D’Amato is looking to tell the story of how the Pro Skater games came to be, and how they changed the face of gaming (Pro Skater 2 is still the second best video game of all time on Metacritic).

There’ll be interviews with various developers and skaters who worked on the series, including Tony Hawk himself, so it should be well worth checking out for any fans of the series.
