Acclaim Entertainment Out of nowhere, a brand new Turok game has been announced, and it’s coming later this month. Fans of the hardcore 90’s shooter might need to temper their expectations though, as Turok: Escape From Lost Valley doesn’t resemble the games 90’s kids grew up with in any way.
There are doubtless going to be scores of disappointed gamers who are desperate for a new entry that hews closer to the Turok they remember, but I actually think this new effort, with its bright and cartoony visuals, looks pretty gorgeous – if you can see past the fact that it’s not the same Turok you grew up with.

Instead, Escape From Lost Valley is an adaptation of the comic series of the same name which goes back to the 1950s (which I honestly wasn’t familiar with until today), and is a cute isometric co-op game instead of a violent first-person shooter. It’s being developed by indie studio Pillow Pig and will be published by Universal Studios Interactive Entertainment.
The trailer says the game is available now, though the Steam store page has it down for a July 25 release. It looks like it’s only headed to PC for the time being, though I’d be surprised if the Nintendo Switch didn’t get in on the action eventually.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen the “classic” Turok, and it’s unlikely that we’ll ever see the franchise return as we remember it. A reboot of sorts was released back in 2008, but it lacked the essence of those early games.
UniversalStill, if you can put your expectations to one side, I think we could all have a wonderful time with Turok: Escape from Lost Valley. I know that’s not what’s going to happen, but I had to try.
