There’s no denying that it’s been a bumper couple of months for the Xbox One, having outsold the PS4 over in the States for the last three months.
The new ad makes the slightly spurious claim that it’s the “Best Selling Console In America” on the back of NPD Group findings, that put the Xbox One on top of the console sales charts from July-September 2016. Technically, at the moment, it is the best selling console in America. Though that hasn’t been the case for its entire life-cycle.
Microsoft also claim that the console has over 1000 titles available – which may well include the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility titles and those on the Xbox One Preview Programme.
If that weren’t enough, the ad also fires shots directly at Sony by bigging up the Xbox One S’s 4k Blu-Ray player, something that the PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro don’t have. Burn.
There are obviously a few factors that should be taken into account when looking at the sales numbers – such as the fact that people may be holding off for the PS4 Pro or that everybody who wants a PS4 has already got one – but it shouldn’t take away from the fact that Microsoft are doing well at the moment.
Also, a healthily competitive marketplace is nothing but good news for consumers, as companies trip over themselves to impress us and get our money. Win-win I’d say.
