The upcoming family of Xbox consoles are reportedly codenamed Anaconda and Lockheart, the former of which of course won’t want none unless you’ve got buns, hun.

As reported by Windows Central, these two separate Xbox consoles will operate in the same way as the Xbox One S and One X, in that you’ll have a cheaper, less powerful model, and a premium powerhouse to choose between.

In case you were wondering, Lockheart is said the be the affordable model, while Anaconda is the beefier beast for the discerning gamer. Both are said to be out by holiday 2020, which once again falls in line with what pretty much every industry analyst has predicted as the release window for the next generation of consoles.

The reports go on to claim that Lockheart will be as powerful, if not a touch more powerful, than the Xbox One X. The Anaconda on the other hand, is said to provide a “cutting edge gaming experience.”

These rumours also suggest the Anaconda could serve as a dev kit, and the Microsoft is looking into drastically reducing loading times on the new console.

Microsoft

This all tallies with earlier reports that the previous codename of Xbox Scarlett was actually representative of a family of consoles, and not just the one model.

Microsoft said during its E3 2018 press conference that it was “deep into architecting the next Xbox consoles, where we will once again deliver on our commitment to deliver the benchmark of console gaming”

With Nintendo and Sony skipping E3 2019, surely the stage is wide open for Microsoft to come out swinging and unveil their new consoles to the world. We’ll have to wait and see.
