No Man’s Sky Developer Reveals Why They Weren’t At E3

No Man’s Sky was nowhere to be seen during E3, but don’t fret – developer Hello Games has assured fans that the no-show isn’t an indication of a game in trouble.

Responding to a question over Twitter, Hello Games’ boss Sean Murray revealed what you probably assumed – they skipped E3 to work on the game some more.

Do you reckon they made the right call? To be fair, there’s already a pretty hefty slice of hype surrounding No Man’s Sky, and rightly so.

For the uninitiated, No Man’s Sky is an exploration/survival game set in a massive procedurally generated universe. You pilot a spaceship and make your way to the center of the universe, discovering new planets, upgrading your ship, and fighting off aliens as you go.

It was announced back in 2013, and as you might expect for a game of this scale, seems to have taken a long time to polish. No Man’s Sky was originally meant to come out in July, but was recently pushed back to August.

Murray recently shared more details about the current status of No Man’s Sky in a blog post today:

Every day, the game is getting better and better, and despite all the late nights (and early mornings) we’re all working to get it finished and in your hands. It’s amazing to see it all coming together. No Man’s Sky is the hardest thing I’ve ever worked on. It’s even bigger than you can imagine. This is a type of game that hasn’t been attempted before, by a smaller team than anyone would expect, under an intense amount of expectation.

In spite of this, Murray reassured fans that development is “genuinely going well” and that we’ll be able to explore the universe very soon.

No Man’s Sky will (definitely) launch for PS4 and PC on August 9 in North America, followed by August 10 in Europe, and August 12 in the UK.
