I don’t know if you’ve heard, but there’s this show called Game Of Thrones that’s apparently coming to an end in the next few weeks. I understand this is kind of a big deal to an awful lot of people.
While I’ve never personally watched the show with any kind of interest, I’m not the sort of person that would try to detract from the fact that this immensely popular fantasy show wrapping up with its eighth season is actually a pretty massive pop culture moment. Let people enjoy things, right?
That the show is at its cultural nadir can’t have escaped the attention of HBO either, as the broadcaster has just announced a collaboration with Secretlab to release a range of Game of Thrones themed gaming chairs. They’re hardly the Iron Throne, but they’ll do for long gaming sessions.
If there were any justice in the world at all, they would have called this range the Throne of Games. Massively missed opportunity, that.
Ah well, this new range of Game of Thrones chairs comes in three variants, all themed after the three main houses fighting for for the Iron Throne—the Starks, the Lannisters, and the Targaryens. Each chair will be available in either Secretlab’s Titan or Omega variety.
The official Secretlab website says:
Each will be equipped with the models’ award-winning features, such as the multi-tilt mechanism, four-directional armrests, Secretlab’s signature cold-cured foam as well as the Secretlab TITAN’s model-exclusive inbuilt, fully-adjustable lumbar support and the Secretlab OMGEA’s highly-acclaimed memory foam lumbar pillow.
Ian Alexander Ang, CEO and co-founder of Secretlab wrote on the company’s official blog:
On top of having an epic storyline, Game of Thrones’ aesthetics and art direction are both unprecedented and phenomenal. Our designers, being huge fans of its aesthetics, came up with a few GoT concepts that looked so amazing that we had to reach out for a collaboration involving our award-winning chairs. GoT fans can now watch the much-awaited Season 8, repping their favourite houses, while reclined on our ultra-comfortable chairs.
I’m not knocking them, but can we all agree that gaming chairs are getting ridiculously extra these days?
Secretlab is only releasing limited quantities of the chairs and in only a few regions, so if you do want one, you’ll need to jump in and pre-order while you can. Or don’t. I honestly don’t care.
