In news that is both bizarre and actually not terrible, Star Wars actor Oscar Isaac has said he wants to ‘throw his hat’ into the ring to play Snake in the long maligned Metal Gear Solid movie.
During a recent roundtable interview on IGN, Isaac and the rest of the panel were asked which video-game characters they’d love to have the opportunity to play, resulting in a myriad of interesting answers.
Check it out:
Isaac quickly chirped in saying:
Metal Gear Solid, that’s the one, I’m throwing my hat in for that one.
The movie is currently being helmed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts whose previous work includes Kong:
Skull Island and err… well I guess that’s about it.
But rather intriguingly, Vogt-Roberts took to Twitter after the interview to say something musingly cryptic.
THIS-MUSING-IS-NOT-NEWS-PSA:
To everyone asking how I feel about Oscar Isaac saying he wants to be Solid Snake.
The full process required to cast an icon hasn’t even started, but..
Ask @Bosslogic where the idea for his brilliant mock up came from.
The ball’s in Oscar’s court. pic.twitter.com/DKM1gw0Oc2

Yes, that is some rather convincing looking artwork of Isaac as our beloved Solid Snake.
I gotta tell you guys, I’m actually all in for the idea. Isaac has the look down and he’s more than capable of carrying the role.
No word on when we might see the movie hitting screens though as it’s been stuck in development purgatory for years.
Maybe by the time it gets around to being made, Isaac will be able to play Old Snake instead.
