Overwatch – Blizzard’s awesome new FPS/MOBA hybrid – is currently top of the UK game sales chart.
Not content to stop there, the game has managed to break a record for Blizzard, becoming the fastest selling console game the company has ever made.
This is according to Chart-Track, which tracks physical sales only. They said that 47% of launch week sales were on PlayStation 4, with 36% on Xbox One, and 18% on PC.
Being Blizzard’s fastest selling console game of course means that Overwatch managed to shift more copies in launch week than the console version of Diablo 3 and Starcraft 64 (nope, I don’t remember that one either).
Of course, the company behind the likes of Warcraft and Diablo don’t really dabble in the world of consoles. PC has always been more their speed, so I suppose those looking to crash Blizzard’s party could point out it’s probably not that impressive.
Then again, Overwatch is still smashing it in terms of sales and the fans seem to absolutely love it – so Blizzard probably don’t give a shit either way.
