A new report suggests that Sony’s super powerful PlayStation 4K console will launch before the end of the year.

‘Several sources have indicated’ this information to Eurogamer’s Richard Leadbetter. It’s worth noting that Eurogamer were also right on the money with pretty much every rumour regarding the PS4K and souped up Xbox One models.

If this report turns out to be true, then the new PlayStation 4 will launch well ahead of Microsoft’s own 4K ready Xbox One model – Project Scorpio is currently scheduled for a ‘Holiday 2017’ release.

Beyond the confirmation of support for 4K and VR gaming, plus enhanced graphics, we still don’t really know much at all about this new PlayStation.

However, Giant Bomb published a specs comparison from what it said was documentation for the new system back in April. You can see how the PS4K holds up against a standard PS4 below.

Project Scorpio meanwhile, was unveiled at E3 2016 and is said to be the ‘most powerful console ever made’.

It features 6 teraflops of performance, making it four times more powerful than the current Xbox One, and a stronger beast than the PS4K, which is said to boast 4.14.

If Sony’s mighty new console really is coming out before the end of the year, they’d better get around to a proper unveiling soon. Some of us are gonna have some saving up to do.
