If you’ve ever dreamt of being a 10-year-old Pokémon master, but suffer from the fact you’re in your mid twenties and Pokémon aren’t real, then Nintendo are offering a pretty awesome compromise – Pokémon Go.

Pokémon Go will be a free-to-play, real world Pokémon app on smartphones that lets you track and catch the little buggers via GPS as they hide all around you. Once you’ve caught your Pokémon, you can train them up and battle against other people. Pretty cool, ay?

The game will feature in-app purchases (probably stuff like better pokéballs and healing items) and you can also get a smartwatch-like companion device called Pokémon Go Plus that allows you to give commands to Pokémon more easily.

Nintendo are working alongside Niatic – who are dab hands at producing GPS technology in mobile games – and Junichi Masus – the director of the original Pokémon games.

The video also teases at the possibility of ‘world events’ where players gather at a certain place to defeat a boss – in this case Mewtwo – in the hope of catching them. Wile Pokémon Go hasn’t been given an exact release date, we do know that it’ll be heading to app stores some time in early 2016.

The video has more cheese than a margherita pizza, and it’s not actually going to look this good, but we can all finally live out that dream of becoming a Pokémon master. Sort of.
