The Xbox One Scorpio is certainly an exciting prospect – it’s been called the most powerful console ever made.

Still, the reveal was something of a slap in the face to those who have already shelled out for an Xbox One. For some of us, purchasing a console is kind of a massive decision owing to money (or lack thereof).

Good news then, as Microsoft are working with certain retailers to help gamers trade in their dusty old Xbox Ones in order to receive a discount on the Scorpio.

Such practice is already on offer by certain retailers for other systems, allowing you to pick up new hardware for less money when you trade in your older console. In the case of the Scorpio, it really was a common sense move.

Microsoft’s Dave McCarthy told The Daily Star:

Some of our retail partners today do trade-in programs and that’s definitely going to be partnerships we continue to move going forward. We want to make that transition as smooth as possible.

The specifics of the trade-in program , such as value and whether you need to part with your controllers, remains to be seen.

But Project Scorpio isn’t due to arrive till holiday 2017, so there’s loads of time for Microsoft to share the nitty gritty on a trade-in program.

Meanwhile, the modest and cost friendly Xbox One S will launch in August. There’s no word on a trade-in program for this sleeker model yet, but I imagine we’d hear about it soon if one is coming at all.
