Ubisoft’s team-based shooter originally scheduled to come out October 13 has now had its release delayed until December 1 on all platforms.

In a blog post written by the developers, they state that feedback from the game’s alpha trial prompted them to take a second look at some of the game’s key features. Rainbow Six: Siege is one of three Tom Clancy shooters Ubisoft have coming out alongside The Division and Wildlands, and by pushing it back a couple of months, Ubisoft are hoping they can address the negative feedback.

In the blog post, Ubisoft said:

…based on the feedback we’ve received, and based on our own internal tests, we felt there are adjustments and improvements we can make, including improving the co-op experience across all game modes, weapon and gadget balancing, as well as menu and interface navigation.

The game’s closed beta will still release September 24 as planned for those who pre-ordered the game, with Ubisoft hoping that feedback from the beta will also go towards making the game a better experience on launch day. Ubisoft spoke about their high hopes for Rainbow Six: Siege back in May, saying that they think it has the potential to be their bestselling shooter ever, ahead of Far Cry 4.

Delaying games has historically not ended well for Ubisoft. Games like Assassin’s Creed: Unity, The Crew and Watch Dogs were all delayed beyond their planned release date and were panned by critics and fans. Here’s hoping Rainbow Six: Siege won’t go the same way. Many of us grew up playing Rainbow Six games, and it’d be a huge shame for a much loved IP to tank.
