Red Dead Redemption 2 Players Are Frantically Trying To Save This Character

Players who have approached the end of Red Dead Redemption 2 are desperately searching for a way to change events which currently seem to be set in stone.

If you’re not too far into Rockstar’s open world Western, I warn you now that there are major spoilers beyond this point. Seriously, do not scroll past naked Arthur if you don’t want to know what happens.

Here we go.

Okay, so towards the end of Red Dead Redemption 2 our hero Arthur Morgan finds out that he has tuberculosis – a nasty bacterial infection that was a death sentence back in days of the old West, before antibiotics and vaccinations were a thing.

As the endgame staggers to a close, poor old Arthur gets progressively worse. Depending on the choices you made in Red Dead Redemption 2, Arthur will either succumb to his disease or meet a slightly stickier end by other means that I won’t spoil.

It’s a pretty bleak choice, and one that doesn’t seem to have a good outcome either way. That hasn’t stopped some gamers from exploring the game’s massive world in search of some kind of cure though.

As reported by The Mirror, since the game was released on October 26, you can see on Google Trends that there’s been a huge increase in searches for ‘tuberculosis cure’.

Anyone at Google who isn’t familiar with Red Dead must have assumed there was some kind of mass tuberculosis outbreak and promptly cacked their pants.

Clearly, gamers are convinced that Rockstar smuggled some kind of secret third ending into the game, one that has a happier outcome for doomed outlaw Arthur Morgan.

Unfortunately, if such an ending exists (which I don’t reckon it does) then no one has found it yet. Arthur can either die, or… well, die. It’s not the happiest of endings, but Red Dead Redemption 2 was never really a tiptoe through the tulips, was it.
