Resident Evil 2 Speedrun Needs To Be Seen To Be Believed

I’m going to be honest here, I think I’m not too bad at Resident Evil games. But watching people who are actually skilled speedrun the games has me weeping in a ball on the floor at the sheer beauty of the thing.

The kicker in the new Resident Evil game is that it’s brutally unforgiving, especially on the higher difficulties.

One bite from a zombie in a tight hallway can leave you reeling, and once you’re on the ropes it’s very easy to be taken down for the count.

That’s exactly what makes professional speedrunner CarcinogenSDA’s Resi 2 run all the more impressive.

He did it all without taking a hit. In under 3 hours. What.

The final time on the clock was two hours and 56 minutes playing through the Leon, a campaign on hardcore, with no damage taken and no infinite weapons used.

There’s already a dedicated community of runners out there right now beavering away to shave seconds off their best times, and I’ve no doubt we’ll be seeing sub-2 hour runs walking backwards blindfolded on a Guitar Hero controller this time next year.

In the meantime, though I can’t wait to see what clever tips and tricks people discover to get those coveted S rank runs, and it’s people like CarginogenSDA that are making it happen. Hats off to you, sir.
