The Resident Evil remake has hit another impressive sales milestone, as the re-imagined return to Raccoon City has now shifted 4 million copies worldwide.

Capcom shared the good news in a press release, revealing the number as a notable increase on the 3 million copies the game shipped in its first week alone.

These numbers push the survival horror franchise as a whole to over 90 million units shipped since the series debuted back in 1996. Another few releases like this, and it won’t be long till Capcom announces the 100 million mark has been hit.

That’s a hint that I want you to release a remaster of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, by the way, Capcom. I hope that was clear.

The original Resident Evil 2 – released in 1998 – hit sales of 4.96 million, so the remake is already sneaking up on that milestone, which is seriously impressive.

Resi 2’s director Yoshiaki Hirabayashi had previously admitted that the only reason the game got greenlit in the first place, was because fans were demanding it – so a remake of Resident Evil 3 could happen if the fans wanted it enough. Hopefully the strong sales of Resi 2 will lead to this becoming a reality.

In other news, the prequel Resident Evil 0, remake of Resident Evil, and the sublime Resident Evil 4 will all be making their way to Nintendo Switch on May 21.
