Resident Evil 7 is happening. I know it’s happening. You know it’s happening. The only problem is that we have no idea what the game is gonna be like.
Still, we can cobble together what we’ve heard from around the internet and try to get a good idea. Earlier in the month, executive producer on Resi 7 Masachita Kawata claimed that they would return the franchise to its survival horror roots.
Considering every core Resi game from 4 onwards seemed to favour straight up action over horror and suspense, this would be a welcome bit of news for any old school fans of the franchise.
Since 2016 marks the 20th anniversary of the franchise, it’d be great to have a game that pays homage to the classics while pushing the series forward – but it gets better.
Japanese analyst Serkan Toto has claimed on Twitter that the game will be announced at E3 next month, and that Capcom has hired designer Jordan Amaro to work on it.
Perhaps the most interesting piece of info on Amaro’s CV in relation to Resident Evil is that he worked on the Silent Hills demo, P.T, as Toto points out below.
And let’s be honest, if you’re trying to return a horror game to former glories, you might as well learn what you can from P.T – that game was fucking terrifying.
2) They will show it at E3. The RE7 team hired Jordan Amaro, a designer who previously worked on MGS V and P. T. at Kojima Productions. /end

Resident Evil 6 was not a good game. Capcom essentially threw away everything that made the series what it was, and the fans made it known they weren’t happy.
Toto’s comments certainly mesh with what we’ve been hearing for a while, anyway. Resident Evil 7 will take into consideration what the fans are after, and deliver something more in line with the original games.
That’s not to say it should be exactly like the early PlayStation titles, though – God knows those tank controls would drive me insane in this day and age.
Just give us a zombie game that will make us crap our pants. Give us crap guns, scarce ammo, and that feeling that we aren’t safe anywhere. That’s Resident Evil.
Still, if Resident Evil 7 is announced at E3 and does turn out to be shit, at least we have the Resident Evil 2 remake to look forward to.
