It turns out that the upcoming Not a Hero DLC for Resident Evil 7 could continue the game’s story in a big way, if a recent leak is to be believed.
Said leak comes courtesy of a data mine from Reddit user GaspenPayne, so take the following info with a pinch of salt and, as always, don’t read on if you don’t want to be spoiled – obviously.
As you (hopefully) know, Resident Evil 7 ended with our hero being rescued by a man who may or not be series regular Chris Redfield, working for a new version of Umbrella.
According to the DLC event flags, the upcoming content stars Redfield as he attempts to apprehend the slippery Lucas Baker, who managed to get away during the main game.
As established during the course of the main game, Lucas isn’t controlled by the virus in the same way as his parents – in fact, he’s entirely aware of his actions and is dishing out information to an unnamed third party.
So, do we finally have confirmation that it was indeed the real Chris at the end of Resident Evil 7? It’s still not clear, but you’d hope these revelations come during the course of the DLC.
Taking a look at the lines of code found through the data mine, it looks like Chris will have to save two ‘Bravo’ team members, recover some documents, explore a ship, a salt dome, and a cliff, fight off ‘white molded’ and apprehend Lucas.
The final line of code reads ‘Task15_Eavesdrop_LucasAndConnection’, which implies that there will at least be a reveal regarding Lucas, if not Redfield and the true nature of this new Umbrella.
Not a Hero comes as a piece of free DLC, and is expected to arrive sometime in the Spring.
