Respawn Entertainment has absolutely zero time for cheaters in its staggeringly popular battle royale Apex Legends, revealing in a recent post that it’s now kicked  355,000 cheaters on PC to the curb.

Community manager Jay Frechette took to Reddit to confirm that while these are good numbers, the “war on cheaters” is only just beginning. Clearly, Respawn is pretty damn serious about this.

We’ll need to continue to adapt to and be very vigilant about fighting. We take cheating very seriously and care deeply about the health of Apex Legends for all players.

He went on to say that they have further plans to tackle cheaters on a wider scale, but that to divulge anything right now would give the sneakier cheaters out there a chance to get their stuff together and escape detection.

He continued:

We are working on improvements to combat cheaters and we’re going to have to be pretty secretive about our plans. Cheaters are crafty and we don’t want them to see us coming.

The studio did confirm that it plans to work with experts within publisher EA, and that it plans to dedicate more resources to the anti-cheat team. It sounds as if we’ll even be getting a built in report feature on PC for players to call out foul play immediately.

In other Apex Legends news, a recent datamine (which is kind of naughty but nothing like as bad as cheating) uncovered a few cool new weapons that could be coming to the battle royale, as well as a night mode and the mysterious inclusion of NPCs.
