Wrestler and former UFC star Ronda Rousey, is set to play Sonya Blade in the upcoming game Mortal Kombat 11.
The game is highly anticipated by fans, who are now more excited as it’s now got some serious muscle behind it, in Rowdy Ronda.
During a reveal event today (January 17), in Los Angeles, Rousey was welcomed to the stage, being announced as the person who will voice the popular character.
Fans watching the event on Mortal Kombat 11‘s website, or over on Twitch, saw Rousey speak about her admiration for the character.
Debuting in the original 1992 Mortal Kombat game, Blade is the commanding officer of the United States Special Forces and later on, in a special government agency.
In most of the games, Blade’s goal is to track down and capture the villainous Kano and eliminate his criminal syndicate, Black Dragon.
For Rousey, the casting is a dream come true, having been a fan of Mortal Kombat for years.
Rousey follows in the footsteps of Kerri Hoskins, who voiced the character in Mortal Kombat 3 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.
I’m sure Ronday will be a great inclusion for the game, no doubt encouraging more people to play it.

A year ago Rousey officially became a WWE wrestler. She made a surprise appearance at Royal Rumble in January, before signing a contract during the Elimination Chamber event.

After months of speculation, fans applauded and rose to their feet as she appeared, with Joan Jett’s Bad Reputation blaring through the arena.
Speaking to ESPN after she signed with WWE, Rousey confirmed she was serious about wrestling, emphasising it is not just a publicity stunt.

She said:
This is my life now. First priority on my timeline for the next several years. This is not a smash-and-grab; this is not a publicity stunt. When I first met with Triple H, I told him, ‘There are other things I can do with my time that’ll make way more money, but I won’t enjoy nearly as much.’
I don’t have words at all. I’m like – this is the most overstimulated I’ve ever been in my life and … I’m just, like I’m still processing it.
I’m so happy and I don’t have words for it — and I usually have words for everything; This never happened before.
It’s funny – it’s kind of like acting, in that it was something I always wanted to do but I never thought was in the cards for me. And now that I realise I really do have this opportunity, I feel like my six-year-old self would totally kick my ass if I didn’t take it.
Rousey was the first American woman to earn an Olympic medal in judo, and enjoyed a two-and-a-half-year undefeated streak during her UFC career.
Mortal Kombat 11 will be released on April 23 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
