Snake Meets Crazy Taxi In This Insane New Game

Snake and Crazy Taxi are two games that I often struggle to put down after picking up, so the idea of a game that combines the two concepts into one hilariously insane looking package has me sold.

Snake is, of course, an enduring mobile classic that sees players attempting to control and feed a digital snake who gets longer the higher your score gets – the catch being that if you bump into your ever expanding tail on your quest for more points, it’s game over.

Crazy Taxi meanwhile, is a classic  score attack racing game that tasks players with getting passengers to various checkpoints while a timer constantly ticks down. Both are great, and super addictive, but I never really considered the two would one day combine to form something new.

In truth, Snakeybus shares most of its DNA with Snake, but racing through the streets with wild abandon while attempting to drop off passengers has more than a touch of Crazy Taxi about it. This wonderful new indie is being developed and published by Stovetop, and arrives on Steam May 10.

Here’s the game’s official description:

Snakeybus is a casual arcade game that requires a balance between reflexes and forethought. Weave through the city streets and pick up as many passengers as you can. Drop your passengers at their destinations to cash in. The more people you drop off, the more your bus grows in length. Play smart and avoid crashing into yourself!

Check out the trailer below to get an idea of just how intense Snakeybus can get.

As you can probably tell from the trailer above, things in Snakeybus start out fairly sedate, but the more passengers you drop off, the longer your bus gets. It won’t be long before your vehicle is so large that the map expands until you’re literally flying around the planet in an attempt to avoid crashing into yourself. It looks genuinely hilarious.

At launch, Snakeybus will include four different maps, five different types of bus, an endless play mode, an original soundtrack, online leaderboards, and the opportunity to unlock new maps and buses as you go.

I am quite honestly ridiculously excited to give this game a go. It looks like exactly the kind of addictive, chaotic arcade experience that made Snake and Crazy Taxi such enduring hits. Now, if someone could go ahead and find a way to combine Tetris and Frogger, that’d be great.
