Sony Announces Sexy New Limited-Edition PlayStation 4 ModelSony

Sony has announced a rather saucy new edition to the PlayStation 4 family. The “Days of Play” limited-edition console was unveiled during Sony’s State of Play livestream last night (May 9), and I want it

The 1 TB Slim console boasts a really quite gorgeous steel grey look, and comes with a fetching matching controller. The console itself also features the now-iconic Triangle, Circle, X, and Square logos. Lay your eyes on it via the trailer below.

Pricing has yet to be announced for the console, but we can expect it to go on sale in June alongside the start of the Days of Play event – Sony’s annual PlayStation celebration where the company offers all kinds of deals on games and hardware.

A slick new PS4 was only the tip of the iceberg in a State of Play presentation that, I have to say, managed to be far more exciting than Sony’s first attempt at a Nintendo Direct style show.

Last time, all we really got was a look at a few titles for PlayStation VR. Beyond an admittedly cool looking Iron Man game and No Man’s Sky VR, there wasn’t too much to write home about.

This time however, we got an in depth look at the MediEvil remake (coming October 25), a reveal for an incredible looking game in which you play as a Sugar Glider attempting to survive in the wild, and a tease for an expansion for the excellent Monster Hunter World.

Perhaps most exciting of all was the long-awaited re-reveal of the Final Fantasy VII remake. It’s good to know that after four years and some obvious development struggles, the project is back on track and looking gorgeous.

While it’s safe to say this most recent State of Play was a relative success compared to the last one, I have to assume that Sony is holding a few things back for a longer presentation in June, around E3 2019.

We know that Sony is skipping the traditional press conference this year, but people are still eager to hear more about The Last of Us Part II and Ghosts Of Tsushima.

Square promised we’d get more detail on the FFVII remake in June, so unless that falls as part of the company’s own E3 plans, we can probably expect to see it form a part of a special E3 State Play.

Until then, you’ll find me watching the trailers for FFVII and The Last of Us Part II over and over again, a single tear rolling down my cheek.
