Hold on to your hats, because rumours are beginning to surface that Sony have some big plans for their upcoming conference in New York. Much bigger than we initially thought.
As you’ve probably guessed by the picture up there, yes, this is to do with Red Dead Redemption. As you’ve probably also guessed, none of these rumours have been confirmed. With that out the way, let’s dive in.
It’s been suggested by South Korean gaming site Game Focus (via Just Push Start) that at Sony’s New York press event this week, they will reveal Red Dead Redemption Remastered, alongside the planned official announcements of the PS4 Neo and the PS4 Slim.
Now, this is where the speculation on the speculation begins. If Red Dead Redemption Remastered is announced, it’s thought that it will be a launch title for the Neo, and will come in early 2017. As Sony have stated, all Neo titles will also come to the regular PS4, so no need to worry on that front.
It’s also worth remembering that it was assumed (though never explicitly verified) that Rockstar had planned to announce a Red Dead title at this year’s E3, but for a number of reasons never ended up presenting anything.
Of course, Red Dead Redemption recently came to Xbox One via Backwards Compatibility, so it raises the question of ‘why now for a remaster?’ Could we actually be about to see Red Dead 3 or Red Dead Redemption 2 instead?
At the time of writing, this is all mere speculation, but we’ll know for definite what Rockstar have up their sleeves (if anything) tomorrow, September 7 – after the press event.
