Sony Suggest Star Wars Battlefront Is The Game To Sell You On VR

A lot of people remain firmly on the fence when it comes to virtual reality, fearing that it could end up as nothing more than an overpriced gimmick. Sony remain confident, however – they’ve suggested that upcoming VR version of Star Wars Battlefront will be the game to convince you.

Vice president of marketing John Koller discussed Battlefront’s PlayStation VR version in a recent interview with Fortune, describing it as a “killer app” for the system.

Koller said:

Battlefront is going to be one of those games that will really show gamers what it means to be in the world of VR. It’s very special.

And just by the nature of it being designed as a VR experience, it’s going to be very different than the PlayStation 4 game.

This new version of Battlefront will be exclusive to the PlayStation VR headset, and Koller hinted that Battlefront will be one of games to launch with the system.

He also discussed future VR titles:

Star Wars is a great example of something that we will really own during that launch period. But over time there will be games that launch, where we’ve been helping with the development process, that will be most special on PlayStation VR, whether it’s exclusive or not.

It’s going to be best played on PlayStation VR.

So which way will you go? Currently we have three real contenders: The HTC Vive, the Oculus Rift, and PlayStation VR. Each company will no doubt be working hard over the coming months to convince you to buy their system.

To be honest, I think they had me at the prospect of Star Wars in virtual reality. I’m weak.
