It’s official; your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man can now claim to star in the fastest selling superhero game in US history, as Marvel’s Spider-Man has absolutely smashed records in its first three months on sale.

While we don’t have any solid sales numbers, NPD Group analyst Mat Piscatella revealed that the game has sold extremely well, outpacing the previous record holder which was, I’m sure you won’t be shocked to learn – Arkham Knight.

What makes this feat all the more impressive is that Marvel’s Spider-Man is a PS4 exclusive, whereas the Arkham series was multiplatform and had a larger install base. Clearly, people really love both PS4 and wall-crawling action.

In our review, we called Marvels’ Spider-Man “quite possibly one of the best superhero games of all time, and inarguably the finest game starring the wall crawler to date.”

The game combines flawless combat and traversal mechanics with a genuinely perfect story to create one of the greatest adaptations of the web slinger outside of the comic books. Insomniac truly deserves every success with this one.

In other Spider-Man news, Insomniac recently added a free surprise costume to the game in the form of the much-requested Sam Raimi suit. In my opinion, it’s one of the worst versions of the suit (I hate that raised webbing), but props to Insomniac for delivering such an awesome Christmas surprise.

The final batch of DLC for the game is also out today, so this’ll be the last time we see this version of the character for a while. I hope we aren’t waiting too long for a sequel.
