Star Wars Battlefront 3 Gets A New 10 vs 10 Multiplayer Mode ‘Blast’

Until now, Dice and EA have only shown footage of two game modes for the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront 3, but today we have details of a third, known as Blast.

Blast will be a 10 vs 10 death match style game where players won’t have access to any vehicles or hero characters. To win, you either have to dominate the opposition for 100 kills, or be in front when the 10 minute timer reaches zero. According to lead level designer Dennis Brännvall, Blast maps are going to be much smaller than normal in order to encourage close quarters battles, but you’ll definitely be fighting on the likes of Hoth, Endor, Tatooine and Sullust. The maps will also change dynamically depending on the time of day.

Brännvall wrote on the official Battlefront 3 website:

Say you’ve just played Walker Assault mode on Hoth and then switched to Blast, still on Hoth. Thanks to variations in lighting and time of day, you’ll definitely see a difference.

A total of six modes have been confirmed, with Blast sitting alongside: Walker Assault, Supremacy, Fighter Squadron, Drop Zone and Cargo. The online modes will be balanced with offline missions, and a survival mode shown off at E3.

Those visiting Gamescom next week will be able to get a hands on with Blast, as Battlefront 3 will be playable on the conference floor. Those who have pre-ordered the game will get a free map known as the Battle of Jakku taken from the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
