A head honcho at EA has controversially claimed that a single player campaign for Star Wars: Battlefront will never be made because nobody would bother playing it.
EA Chief Operating Officer Peter Moore broke the news in a recent interview with Gamespot at Gamescom, while discussing some of the mega company’s future strategies. In the lengthy interview, Moore states the game will still contain single player and co-op mode ‘Survival’, in which players must get from point A to point B by – get this – surviving.
Responding to the point that triple-A games usually sell better when shipped with a campaign, Moore replied:
You may be right [but] very few people actually play the single-player on these kinds of games. That’s what the data points to.
Naturally this has been bitter news for fans. Many in the comments of the article have pointed out that the reason people don’t play the single player modes of multiplayer-focused shooters is because they usually suck. The interview is well worth a read in its entirety, as Moore also goes on to discuss why DLC is something we all need to get on board with, and that on-disc DLC is a myth. Yeah.

Regardless of whether you enjoy playing a campaign or not, it would seem that big developers like EA have already made the decision to phase the game mode out. Star Wars: Battlefront will be hitting stores in the UK on November 19 on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
